Abstract:
A method for producing a lubricant base oil having a prescribed boiling point range provided with a first step for putting stock oil, containing a first hydrocarbon oil having a boiling point in the boiling point range and a second hydrocarbon oil having a boiling point lower than the boiling point range, in contact with a hydrogenation/isomerization catalyst, wherein: the catalyst contains a carrier containing both a binder and a zeolite having a 10-membered ring, one-dimensional pore structure, and platinum and/or palladium supported by the carrier; the carbon content of the catalyst is 0.4-3.5 mass%, and the micropore volume per unit mass of the catalyst is 0.02-0.12 cc/g; the zeolite is derived from an ion-exchanged zeolite obtained by subjecting zeolite containing an organic template and having a 10-membered ring, one-dimensional pore structure to an ion exchange in a solution containing ammonium ions and/or protons; and the micropore volume per unit mass of the zeolite contained in the catalyst is 0.01-0.12 cc/g.
