Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a microorganism-immobilized carrier for water treatment use, in which it becomes possible to cut a soft polyurethane foam having water swellability and specific pores with high efficiency. A method for producing a microorganism-immobilized carrier for water treatment use which is formed from a soft polyurethane foam, wherein the soft polyurethane foam has an average number of pores of 9 to 30 pores/25 mm when swollen with water and also has a volume swelling ratio, which is expressed as a ratio of the volume upon the swelling with water to the volume in an absolutely dried state, of 110 to 1000%, the method comprising the steps of: expanding a mixed solution comprising a urethane prepolymer, a polyisocyanate compound (a) and water to produce the soft polyurethane foam having a water content of 20% by mass or more; and cutting the soft polyurethane foam while keeping the water content in the soft polyurethane foam at 20% by mass or more.
