Abstract:
Provided is a method for dissolving a polysaccharide such as cellulose under acidic and mild conditions using a solution containing hydrochloric acid and zinc chloride, wherein the hydrogen chloride concentration in the hydrochloric acid is 7-12 mol/L, the zinc chloride content is 2-10 mol/L, and the total amount of the hydrogen chloride concentration in the hydrochloric acid and the zinc chloride content is 13-20 mol/L. Also provided is a method for converting a polysaccharide such as cellulose into a monosaccharide or an oligosaccharide under acidic and mild conditions.
