A production method for obtaining a multifilament yarn comprising a liquid-crystal polyester, the method comprising (a) a step in which a plurality of thin liquid-crystal-polyester spun multifilament yarns are prepared, (b) a step in which the filaments of each of the plurality of thin liquid-crystal-polyester spun multifilament yarns are entangled within each yarn and thereafter the thus-entangled plurality of thin liquid-crystal-polyester spun multifilament yarns are collected to obtain a thick liquid-crystal-polyester spun multifilament yarn, and (c) a step in which the thick liquid-crystal-polyester spun multifilament yarn is subjected to solid-phase polymerization at a temperature not higher than the melting point of the liquid-crystal polyester to thereby obtain a thick liquid-crystal-polyester multifilament yarn, the method further including, prior to the step (c), a step (e) in which a fusion-bonding inhibitor is imparted to the surface of the thick and/or thin liquid-crystal-polyester spun multifilament yarn(s).
