Abstract:
According to the present invention, an olefin polymer having a specific molecular weight is produced by polymerizing an olefin having 2 to 4 carbon atoms with use of an olefin polymerization catalyst that contains a transition metal compound represented by formula (1). (In formula (1), each of R1, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11, R12, R13, R14, R15 and R16 independently represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a heteroatom-containing hydrocarbon group or a silicon-containing group; R2 represents a hydrocarbon group, a heteroatom-containing hydrocarbon group or a silicon-containing group; any given two substituents among the R1 to R16 substituents may combine together to form a ring; M represents a group 4 transition metal; Q represents a halogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, an anionic ligand or a neutral ligand capable of coordination by a lone pair of electrons; j represents an integer of 1 to 4; and in cases where j is an integer of 2 or more, the plurality of Q moieties may be the same as or different from each other.)
