Abstract:
[Problem] The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing an optically active 5-hydroxy-3-ketoester compound which has a high reaction yield and high stereoselectivity, and is useful as an intermediate for a pharmaceutical product. [Solution] A novel production method for obtaining, at a high yield and in a highly selective manner, an optically active 5-hydroxy-3-ketoester compound represented by formula (4) by causing a metal salt and an amine or an ammonium salt and an amine to coexist in the presence of an optically active binaphthol-titanium complex in an asymmetric aldol reaction using 1,3-diene compound.
