Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a production method by which a PHA is able to be obtained with a high yield by a simple operation. The above are achieved by providing a method for producing a polyhydroxyalkanoate, said method comprising: (a) a step for preparing an aqueous polyhydroxyalkanoate suspension that has a pH of 5 or less; (b) a step for mixing the aqueous suspension obtained in the step (a) with a water-insoluble organic solvent that has a specific gravity of more than 1.0 g/mL; (c) a step for separating the mixed liquid obtained in the step (b) into a water-insoluble organic solvent phase and an aqueous phase by means of centrifugal separation, and subsequently removing the aqueous phase; and (d) a step for achieving a gel-like polyhydroxyalkanoate by heating and subsequently cooling the water-insoluble organic solvent phase obtained in the step (c).
