Abstract:
The present invention pertains to: a method for producing a positive electrode active material; positive electrode active material having a BET specific surface area of 10 m2/g or less produced by the method; a positive electrode containing the positive electrode active material; and a lithium secondary battery. The method comprises the steps of: preparing lithium transition metal oxide in the form of secondary particles of aggregated primary particles; forming a mixture by mixing the lithium transition metal oxide and carbon-based material having a hollow structure having a plurality of pores; and mechanically surface-treating the mixture to form a carbon coating layer on the surface of the lithium transition metal oxide, wherein the carbon-based material having a hollow structure having a plurality of pores has a specific surface area of at least 200 m2/g, and a degree of graphitization (ID/IG) of at least 0.5.
