Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING REDUCED IRON AGGLOMERATES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/034589
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a method which is capable of improving the yield of reduced iron agglomerates having large particle diameters when reduced iron agglomerates are produced by heating, in a moving hearth type heating furnace, agglomerates of a starting material that is a mixture containing an iron oxide-containing substance, a carbonaceous reducing agent and a melting point regulator, thereby reducing and melting the iron oxide in the starting material mixture. A method wherein agglomerates that contain an iron oxide-containing substance, a carbonaceous reducing agent and a melting point regulator are introduced onto a hearth of a moving hearth type heating furnace and heated thereon so that the iron oxide in the agglomerates is reduced, and the agglomerates are additionally heated so that the agglomerates are at least partially melted and iron components are agglomerated, thereby producing reduced iron agglomerates. In this method for producing reduced iron agglomerates, a carbonaceous reducing agent which has an average particle diameter of 40-160 μm and contains particles having particle diameters of 400 μm or more in an amount of 2% by mass or more is used as the carbonaceous reducing agent.
