Abstract:
In producing a seamless pipe, in which a hot billet is formed into a hollow shell by piercing/rolling by mean of a piercer, and subsequently transferred to a strech rolling mill without reheating to stretch/roll the hollow shell and finally formed into a seamless pipe by fixed diameter rolling by means of a fixed diameter rolling machine, the step 1 of measuring the temperature of the hollow shell at the outlet side of the strech rolling mill in the axial direction, and the step 2 of spraying water to cool the hollow shell at the inlet side of the fixed diameter rolling machine depending on the axial temperature distribution obtained for the hollow shell so as to achieve a uniform temperature distribution in the axial direction of the hollow shell are further included thereby preventing an uneven axial temperature distribution while saving energy.
