Title:
METHOD OF PRODUCING SYNGAS BY THE STEAM REFORMING OF HYDROCARBONS USING OXYGEN-ENRICHED AIR AS OXIDIZER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/007281
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of producing a syngas by catalytic steam reforming of a hydrocarbon feed with the heat necessary for reforming being produced by combustion, said step being carried out in a reformer comprising at least one combustion chamber provided with reforming tubes and burners fed with fuel and with oxidizer in order to deliver said heat necessary for reforming by combustion, and a convection chamber for removing the flue gases generated by the combustion. According to the invention, the reforming step uses an oxidizer consisting of oxygen-enriched air obtained by the vaporization of the oxygen evaporated from a liquid oxygen tank located nearby. The invention also relates to a combination of an oxygen-rich gas supply, preferably a liquid oxygen storage tank, and of a hydrocarbon steam reforming facility.
