Abstract:
 Provided is a production method having a high conversion rate of HFC-134a and high selection rate of HFO-1123 as well as high productivity of HFO-1123, with low process loads for purification and recovery. A method for producing HFO-1123 in which: a raw material gas, having a proportion of HFC-134a of 50-100 mol% relative to the total amount of dilution gas and HFC-134a, is brought into contact with a dehydrofluorination reaction catalyst; some of the HFC-134a is converted into HFO-1123; the hydrogen fluoride in the reaction product gas is then removed; the reaction product gas from which the hydrogen fluoride has been removed is brought into contact with a dehydrofluorination reaction catalyst; and at least some of the unreacted HFC-134a is converted into HFO-1123.
