Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of a luminous floor and wall covering which can be made from chiselled ceramic, polystyrene, granite or marble. The method consists in: firstly, coating the grooves with a white or silver paint that enhances charging with light; subsequently, applying brightly coloured phosphorescent paints which can or cannot be charged with light; and, finally, coating the phosphorescent paints located in recessed areas with an insulating transparent epoxy material or any other material having similar properties, in order to protect same against staining and against floor- and wall-cleaning products. The covering is characterised in that it lights up brightly in the dark and in that its form can be completely altered upon exposure to black light in total darkness, since black light only illuminates those paints that cannot be charged with light. When the black light is switched off, the form of the covering changes once again and only the paints that can be charged with light are then illuminated, thereby creating a pretty pattern on the floor or wall that lasts for four hours following five minutes exposure of the paints that can be charged with light.
