Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF LIMULUS-POSITIVE GLYCOLIPID, LIMULUS-POSITIVE GLYCOLIPID, AND LIMULUS-POSITIVE GLYCOLIPID BLEND
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/007476
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Xanthan gum, which is derived from a Xanthomonas microorganism, has been commercially supplied and eaten for many years. It is now found that xanthan gum contains a limulus-positive glycolipid. The limulus-positive glycolipid is purified from xanthan gum, and it is found that the limulus-positive glycolipid has an immunostimulating effect. Disclosed is a method for production of a limulus-positive glycolipid containing an immunostimulating substance safely, at a low cost, and in a high concentration. The method is characterized by extracting a limulus-positive glycolipid from xanthan gum. A limulus-positive glycolipid blend containing the limulus-positive glycolipid can be used in various applications including pharmaceuticals, veterinary pharmaceuticals, quasi-drugs, cosmetics, foods, functional foods, feeding stuffs and bathwater additives.
