The present invention relates to a method for purification of a 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) composition. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for purification of CHDM, wherein the solvent water can be effectively removed with low energy, with the resultant purification of CHDM at high purity.
