Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for efficiently purifying an acrylic acid derivative (I), specifically, a method for efficiently eliminating an alcohol (II) from a composition containing the acrylic acid derivative (I) and the alcohol (II). The problem is solved by a method for purifying an acrylic acid derivative represented by formula (I) (where R1 and R2, which are the same or different, represent an alkyl group, a fluoroalkyl group, a halogen atom, a hydrogen atom, or an aryl group that optionally has at least one substituent; R3 represents an alkyl group, a fluoroalkyl group, a hydrogen atom, or an aryl group that optionally has at least one substituent; and X represents an alkyl group, a fluoroalkyl group, a halogen atom, or a hydrogen atom), said method containing a step A in which a composition A containing the acrylic acid derivative represented by formula (I) and an alcohol represented by formula (II): R4-OH (where R4 represents a C1-6 alkyl group) is brought into contact with an acid anhydride, and the alcohol is converted into an ester compound having a boiling point that is higher than the boiling point of the acrylic acid derivative represented by formula (I).
