Abstract:
A method of purification as a pretreatment of feed air in cryogenic air separation, the method comprising (a) an adsorption step in which pressurized feed air is introduced into an adsorption column packed with a water adsorbent and a carbon dioxide adsorbent in this order from the feed air inlet side, and water and carbon dioxide are removed, (b) a step in which the internal pressure of the adsorption column is reduced to atmospheric pressure, (c) a step for thermally regenerating the adsorbents within the decompressed adsorption column, the step (c) including an overall heating step in which the carbon dioxide adsorbent and the water adsorbent are heated and a partial heating step in which the water adsorbent is heated, (d) a cooling step in which a purge gas that has not been heated is introduced into the adsorption column to cool the adsorbents, and (e) a pressurization step in which the cooled adsorbents are pressurized with the purified air.
