Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for recycling unused gas in a membrane reactor, the method enabling a reduction in production costs of a desired product by recycling H2 gas that permeates a separation membrane and flows out from the membrane reactor. This method for recycling unused gas in a membrane reactor includes: a gas phase reaction step in which a reaction product and water vapor are synthesized by introducing a raw material gas including hydrogen gas and at least one of carbon monoxide gas and carbon dioxide gas into a first space of a membrane reactor provided with a separation membrane, the first space being on the non-permeation side and filled with a catalyst, and a second space being on the permeation side; a product membrane separation step in which at least one of the reaction product and the water vapor are separated by permeating into the second space through the separation membrane; a mixed gas outflow step in which hydrogen gas which has permeated into the second space is forced to flow out by flowing a sweeping gas into the second space; and a hydrogen gas recycling step in which at least the hydrogen gas of the mixed gas which has flowed out is used as the raw material gas of the gas phase reaction step or the raw material gas of another process.
