Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING ORGANIC ACIDS IN CRUDE OIL USING GAS HYDRATE INHIBITOR AND CATALYST
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/195337
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for removing organic acids in crude oil using a gas hydrate inhibitor and a catalyst in crude oil production facilities or oil refining facilities and, more specifically, to a method for removing organic acids in crude oil by reacting the crude oil with mono-ethylene glycol (MEG), di-ethylene glycol (DEG), tri-ethylene glycol (TEG), methanol, or derivatives thereof, as a gas hydrate inhibitor in the presence of tungstophosphoric acid (TPA) as a catalyst. The acidity of the crude oil can be lowered to 93% or higher; catalyst deactivation does not occur due to the non-use of magnesium (MG)-based catalysts; and the organic acids in the crude oil can be removed in an eco-friendly, economical, and efficient manner by configuring a continuous process, in which the gas hydrate inhibitor and the catalyst are collected, without being thrown away, from the crude oil from which organic acids have been removed, and recycled in the removal of the organic acids in the crude oil.
