Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING A TOOL FRAGMENT FROM A TOOTH ROOT-CANAL AND AN EXTRACTOR FOR CARRYING OUT SAID METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/077286
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The inventive method and extractor relate to stomatology and can be used for removing the fragment of a metal tool from the root canal of a tooth, for example for endodontic treatment. The inventive method consists in introducing two metallic electrodes, which are insulated from each other and embodied in the form of a cylinder in the assembled position thereof, into the root canal until the electric contact with the removable fragment is attained and in sending an electric pulse, whose electric current intensity and width are sufficient for welding said fragment to the electrodes by contact heating, through a closed circuit formed by the first electrode, the metallic fragment and the second electrode. The heating of the adjacent tissues remains at a physiologically acceptable level. Afterwards, the electrodes together with the fragment are removed from the root canal. The electrodes having different sizes and shapes are used according to a clinical situation. A unit forming said electric pulse comprises a capacitor which is charged by a battery and discharged by the pulse through a controlled electronic key. A power supply unit is provided with a unit for displaying a contact resistance between the fragment and the electrodes in order to select the best relative position thereof.
