Abstract:
The proposed method involves the thermal breakdown of rubber waste materials in a working medium, separation of the solid and gaseous breakdown products, and removal of oil from the gaseous breakdown products. The proposed method is characterised in that the working medium used is a steam and gas mixture consisting of steam and gas obtained following the recovery of the oil from the gaseous breakdown products, the mixture being superheated to between 300 and 1600 �C. The proportion by weight of steam in the mixture is 98-85 %, that of gas 2-15 %. Oil in quantities equivalent to 3-40 wt.% of the waste materials can be added to the rubber waste materials before the thermal breakdown process.
