Abstract:
The present application discloses a method for sending a random access preamble, a method for receiving a random access preamble, and a communications apparatus. The sending method comprises: a terminal device selects a first preamble from a target set corresponding to a first SSB, and sends the first preamble to a network device on a first RO associated with the first SSB. The first SSB is associated with N ROs, the N ROs comprise a first group of ROs and a second group of ROs, the first group of ROs corresponds to a first preamble set, and the second group of ROs corresponds to a second preamble set. A first preamble index range corresponding to the first preamble set is different from a second preamble index range corresponding to the second preamble set. The target set is a union of the first preamble set and the second preamble set. Because index ranges corresponding to preamble sets corresponding to different RO groups may be different, there may be more available preambles on ROs associated with one SSB, thereby improving the preamble utilization rate and improving access performance of a terminal device.
