Provided are method and server for estimating an emotional value of a word. A method for estimating an emotional value of a word by a server, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: (a) extracting synonyms and definitions, from a Korean dictionary, for a particular word; (b) extracting, from a preconstructed emotional dictionary, emotional words and emotional values which match the definitions and synonyms, respectively; (c) calculating the frequency of simultaneous appearances of the particular word and each emotional word in an atypical corpus and generating each frequency vector of simultaneous appearances; and (d) estimating the emotional value of the particular word on the basis of the weight of each of the definitions and synonyms, each frequency vector of simultaneous appearances, and the emotional value of each emotional word.
