Abstract:
A method, system and machine-readable medium encoded with machine- executable instructions for creating an ensemble of estimated upscaled reservoir models includes obtaining a fine-scale geomodels of a subsurface region including a plurality of fine-scale cells representing properties of fine-scale regions of the subsurface region, generating, from the fine-scale cells, a plurality of realizations, each realization associated with a particular geological model, generating, from the realizations, calibration data, generating, from the fine-scale cells, coarse-scale cells representing upscaled properties of coarse-scaled regions of the subsurface region, and generating, using the calibration data and the coarse-scale cells, a plurality of estimated realizations.
