Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for testing the aging resistance performance of paint of a shipboard cable, involving firstly, preparing a paint solution, heating same and keeping same at 120ºC; taking ten outer sheath specimens from the same sampling section of a finished cable, randomly dividing the specimens into two groups, testing the tensile strength and elongation at break of an outer sheath before paint ages for the first fives specimens and respectively taking median values; respectively immersing the last five specimens in the paint solution at 120ºC for 168 h; after taking these specimens out, wiping off paint and suspending the specimens in a vertical manner for 24 h; respectively subjecting the last five specimens to tests on tensile strength and elongation at break according to the methods in IEC 60811-501-2012 and obtaining median values; respectively calculating, based on the median values of the tensile strength and elongation at break of the sheath before and after the paint ages, the rate of changes of the tensile strength and elongation at break; and where neither of the two rates of change is greater than 40%, determining the aging resistance performance of the paint to be excellent. The method can test and determine the aging resistance performance of paint of a cable before leaving the factory.
