Abstract:
A method of treating excess sludge whereby not only can the volume of excess sludge discharged be reduced but also phosphorus can be removed from sludge; and an apparatus therefor. Further, there are provided a method of biological treatment of organic waste water by means of a system of such sludge treatment; and an apparatus therefor. The method of treating excess sludge is one for treating excess sludge generated from a process of treating organic waste water which comprises a step of biological treatment and a step of solid liquid separation, characterized in that portion or the entirety of excess sludge is concentrated into supernatant liquor and concentrated sludge, the resultant supernatant liquor subjected to treatment for phosphorus recovery and recycled to the biological treatment step or discharged as a treated water outside the system, the concentrated sludge resulting from concentration of excess sludge subjected to sonication and recycled to the biological treatment step.
