Abstract:

A method for updating the host’s DNS during the IPv6 stateless address configuration, wherein an item which comprises the information for the host’s DNS updating negotiation is added in the RS message transmitted by the host and/or the RA message transmitted by the router; according to the information, the host negotiates with the router to determine whether the host or the router registers the mapping of the host global address and the host global domain name in the DNS server, and consequently the host’s DNS updating is finished. According to the present invention the host can correctly recognize the matching relation between the domain name suffixes information and the address prefixes, and the host can negotiate the DNS domain name updating with the router. Moreover if the router does the DNS updating instead of the host, the DNS updating would be simple and safe.
