A method for window-level switching, a device, equipment, and a storage medium. At least two display layers are supported in a windowed mode, the at least two display layers comprising at least two of the following: a non-dedicated display layer, an always-on-top dedicated display layer used for displaying always-on-top windows, and an always-at-bottom dedicated display layer used for displaying always-at-bottom windows. The method comprises: employing a non-dedicated display layer in a windowed mode to display at least two windows (S110); determining among the at least two windows a target window that needs to be displayed always-on-top or to be displayed always-at-bottom (S120); and switching the target window from the non-dedicated display layer to an always-on-top dedicated display layer or an always-at-bottom dedicated display layer, thus having the target window displayed always-on-top or displayed always-at-bottom (S130).
