Abstract:
Provided by the present invention are methods and apparatus for transmitting and receiving a random access response, and a communication system; the method for transmitting a random access response comprises: a network device receiving a first message sent by a terminal device, the first message containing a random access preamble and data, or the first message only containing a random access preamble; and the network device sending random access response indication information and a random access response to the terminal device, wherein the random access response indication information indicates that the random access response is a first random access response or a second random access response, the first random access response at least carrying an uplink transmission authorization allocated by the network device for the terminal device, and the second random access response at least carrying first contention resolution information for data of the first message. Thus, the terminal device may distinguish whether a received random access response is MsgB of 2-step RA or Msg2 of 4-step RA, thereby correctly performing a subsequent random access process.
