Abstract:
The methods of making and using an absorption-unit array suitable for X-ray detection and a detector comprising such an absorption-unit array are privided. The methods of making the absorption-unit array (410) may include forming the absorption-unit array (410A) on a substrate (400) and forming a guard ring (431A, 431B) encompassing more than one absorption units (420) of the absorption-unit array (410) after separating the absorption-unit array (410) from the substrate (400);or may include forming a plurality of absorption units (410) and a guard ring (431B) encompassing more than one of the absorption units (420) on a portion of a substrate (400) after separating the portion from the substrate (400). The method of using an absorption-unit array (410) may include using some of the absorption units (420) of the absorption-unit array (410) as a guard ring (431B) by applying an electrical voltage. A detector (100) suitable for X-ray detection comprises an absorption layer (110) and an electronics layer (120), wherein the absorption layer (110) comprises an absorption-unit array (410).
