Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method performed by a first network entity associated with a session management in a communication system is provided. The method includes transmitting, to a second network entity associated with a user plane function, a first message comprising information for setting up a layer two tunneling protocol (L2TP) tunnel, and as a response to the first message, receiving, from the second network entity, a second message comprising information on a cause of a L2TP tunnel establishment failure.
