Title:
METHOF FOR REGENERATION OF ROOF TILE COVERING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/106158
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
At minimum the outside surface of ceramic, concrete or bitumen tiles of a roof covering is mechanically cleaned, e.g. by a grinding or by a flow of a cleaning medium, and on the cleaned surface, a protective penetration agent is applied. The agent is advantageously on the base of polymeric materials, e.g. polyepoxides, polyacrylates, polyurethanes or polycarbonates. The regeneration of the tiles of a roof covering is possible to be realized directly on a building roof.

Description:
METHOD FOR REGENERATION OF ROOF TILE COVERING

Technical Field The invention regards a method for the regeneration of a roof tile covering formed 5 mainly by ceramic, concrete or bitumen tiles.

Background Art Roof coverings commonly used on apartment and non≡flat buildings, formed with ceramic, concrete or bitumen tiles deprive of value on the surface under a permanent exposure of various weather and emission influences, sun irradiation, snow blanket, as well as a holding of dust particles and biologic influences (such as humus-making processes running in the held moist dust, soil and vegetable residues, overgrowing by mosses or plants, pollution by animals, e.g. birds, etc.). Such deteriorated roof covering is non=aesthetic and loses important purpose properties, such as for instance uncrackability and hardness, impermeability for water, capacity for draining of rain water and a low snow holding. By 5 lowering of these properties, the roof covering degrades to a material inappropriate to recycling and designated as building waste, and the tiles is necessary to be costly replaced by new ones. Disclosure of Invention Disadvantages of the background art are solved by the method by the invention, 0 according to which at least an outside surface of tiles of a roof covering on a bedding place, and/or after their removing from the bedding place, are get rid of solid impurities, advantageously by mechanical cleaning, for instance by grinding with wire brush or disk, and/or by air, sand, water or steam flow. Then on the cleaned tiles surfaces, a protecting penetration agent is applied by coating with a paintbrush or roller, by spraying, or soaking. 5 The protecting agent is advantageously a paint based on polymeric materials, for instance polyepoxides, polyacrylates, polyurethanes or polycarbonates, advantageously in the form of primer paint for metals for outdoor environment. The advantage of the solution by the invention is mainly that by the regeneration of the tiles, the hydrological properties of the outside surface of the covering are significantly Q improved, the destructive effect of humus making processes and the biologic disintegration on the surface and in the depth of the tiles are stopped, the ability of moisture, snow, sediments and impurities holding, biomass growth is decreased. Also a destructive freezing of water in pores is decreased, a structure of the tiles material is strengthened and microscopic cxacs are removed, thus the length of life of the tiles is significantly prolonged, an aesthetic 5 looks of the roof covering is prettier. From the economic point of view, the roof covering regeneration as compared with its replacement for the new one is advantageous mainly by the using of simple materials and technology, by the elimination of costs for buying, transport, manipulation and loading the new tiles, as well as elimination of costs for liquidation of the wsste tiles. Other advantage of the solution is also that the regeneration of the roof covering can be realized without uncovering of roof carpentry and intermediate storage of tiles. Beside this, there almost any building wastes are not formed, the roof covering materia! can be used 5 again, and thus a deposited waste volume is decreased. The solution enables rapid, effective,

repairing or treatment of roofs.

Modes for Genuine Qut thβ Invention Example 1 IQ Ceramic and concrete tiles of a roof covering of a family house and adjacent farm building are shifted on roof slats to uncover their outside surface, which is then grinded with a wire disk to remove dust, sou and humus sediments, birds fouling and mosses overgrowing. On the cleaned tiles surface, a resistant primer polyurethane paint for metals for outside i iconα Kw Q rkotrvfhri ιαh ϊc αrvrtliαrl Δfte»r Hrwirn"* * *Λ ^vf fhϋ ftiet {ilαc arc* ehiffr^H harlr fhoir rvoeH-ir^ne After repairing, exchange and/or adding of roof components (e.g. slates, frames, foils, cracked tiles, etc.), the tiles are removed from the roof and regenerated by the. way described above near the roof place and/or exchanged with the tiles regenerated before ones in a centra! regeneration unit. 2Q Example 2 Bitumen tiles from a roof of reconstructed building are taken down in the loft and then cleaned by an air flow and by the wire brush. Then the tiles are emerged into diluted high= speed drying polyacrylate paint, and after drying up they are placed again on the roof. Cracked tiles are changed with the regenerated ones.
