Abstract:
A superconducting magnet (17) is provided with: multicore superconducting wire material (18) having a plurality of filaments (4) in which a MgB2 core (8) is covered by a metal sheath (9); a superconducting coil (12) into which the multicore superconducting wire material is wound; and a superconducting connecting part (11) in which an end part of the multicore superconducting wire material and end part of a separate superconducting wire material are unitized via a sintered body (5) that includes MgB2. Each of the plurality of filaments in the superconducting connecting part is in a separated state, and each of the filaments has the MgB2 core exposed at a part in the circumferential direction of the end part. Additionally, an exposed surface in which a part that is exposed in the direction of length from the end part is formed, and the surface area of the exposed surface is larger than a cross-sectional surface area of the MgB2 core when the cross-section is made at a right angle to the direction of length at the end part of the filament.
