Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a microbiota improving agent that is for improving the microbiota in mucosa, skin, and/or nails, that is highly effective in suppressing pathogenic microbes while retaining non-pathogenic indigenous microbes, and that can improve balance in the microbiota in a sustained manner. The present invention pertains to a microbiota improving agent that is for improving the microbiota in mucosa, skin, and/or nails, that contains a base agent (Y) containing a nonvolatile component and at least one substance (X) selected from the group consisting of compounds (X1) having two or more hydroxy groups included in an oxo acid group and salts of said compounds, compounds (X2) having one hydroxy group included in an oxo acid group and salts of said compounds, heterocyclic compounds (X3) not having an oxo acid group and salts of said compounds, and ketones (X4) not having an oxo acid group and salts of said ketones, that satisfies conditions (i) and (ii), and in which the HLB value of the nonvolatile component is 7 or more. (i) The worked penetration of the microbiota improving agent as measured in accordance with JIS K 2220 is 100-400. (ii) The viscosity of the microbiota improving agent at 37°C measured using a cone-plate type rotational viscometer is 1-4,000Pa·s.
