Abstract:
A microwave treatment apparatus (101) is provided with: a heating chamber (11); a microwave oscillation source (1); a mounting table (4) which is provided in the heating chamber (11) and on which an object (7) to be heated is mounted; and a waveguide tube (6) that guides microwaves to the heating chamber (11). The microwave treatment apparatus (101) is further provided with: a periodic structure (5) that is provided in the waveguide tube (6) and that propagates the microwaves in a surface wave mode; a detection antenna (9) provided near the periodic structure (5); a detection unit (8) that detects electromagnetic waves received by the detection antenna (9); and a control unit (10) that controls the oscillation source (1). The control unit (10) identifies the power distribution of an electromagnetic field near the periodic structure (5) on the basis of the detected electromagnetic waves, and controls the oscillation source (1) to set an oscillation frequency to one of a first oscillation frequency and a second oscillation frequency according to the power distribution of the electromagnetic field. According to this aspect, a desired power distribution of the electromagnetic field can be maintained near the periodic structure by making corrections to the change in characteristics of the periodic structure.
