Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a mirror design method capable of producing a mirror which is a single mirror, through which a light source position and a light condensing position can be independently set in a vertical direction and a horizontal direction, and accordingly the astigmatism can be freely transformed, which can be suitable even for an X-ray region beam by suppressing a light condensing size to be smaller, has a simple design equation and a wide application field, and which can be suitably used as an optical system that handles beams having different characteristics in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction. [Solution] This mirror is designed by: expressing, by using L1s, L1m, each coordinate of the crosspoint of a sagittal light source ray and an incident light ray to an M point that is an arbitrary point on a reflection surface, and the crosspoint of a meridional light source ray and the incident light ray to the M point; expressing, by using L2s, L2m, each coordinate of the crosspoint of a sagittal condensed light ray and an exit light ray from the same M point, and the crosspoint of a meridional condensed light ray and an exit light ray from the M point; and using a design equation of the reflection surface derived on the basis of these coordinates and on the basis that an optical path length from the light source position to the light condensing position is constant with regard to each arbitrary point on the reflection surface with respect to light condensing in a sagittal direction and light condensing in a meridional direction.
