A novel MMP inhibitor. It is a compound represented by the formula (I) or a salt thereof: (I) wherein R?1¿ and R?2¿ each means optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted lower arylalkyl, lower arylalkenyl, lower aryloxyalkyl, or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group. The compound is useful as an MMP inhibitor.
