This mobile body control system accumulates information on obstacles detected in the past in each divided region made by dividing the peripheral region of the mobile body, and has the accumulated obstacle information forgotten according to a prescribed forgetting rate allocated to each divided region. This mobile body acquires captured images, detects obstacles included in the captured images, and generates an occupancy map showing the occupancy of obstacles for each divided region according to the accumulated obstacle information and the detected obstacles for the current peripheral region of the mobile body.
