Abstract:
A mobile robot and an operation method of the mobile robot are disclosed. In the mobile robot according to the present invention, a technique related to the periodic removal of foreign matter smeared on casters is disclosed. To this end, while the mobile robot is driven using a wheel module including a plurality of drive wheels and casters, the mobile robot senses a neighboring mat area by using a sensor, in response to recognition that a caster care mode has been started, and moves so as to be on the recognized mat area, and performs a motion run set to remove contamination of the casters without leaving the mat area. Accordingly, during moving of the mobile robot, damage to floor surfaces, due to scratches or like caused by foreign matter smeared on the casters of the mobile robot, can be minimized.
