Abstract:
Provided are an enzyme that is useful for establishing an excellent isoprene monomer-producing system, etc. Specifically, provided are: a modified isoprene synthase that has a mutation at a definite amino acid residue in one of the following amino acid sequences (a) to (c), (a) an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:4, (b) an amino acid sequence derived from the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:4 by substitution, deletion, insertion or addition of one to several amino acids, and (c) an amino acid sequence having 90% or more identity to the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:4, and has an isoprene-synthesizing activity; a polynucleotide that encodes the modified isoprene synthase; an expression vector that contains the polynucleotide; a host cell that contains an expression unit containing the polynucleotide; a method for producing an isoprene monomer, said method comprising synthesizing the isoprene monomer from dimethylallyl diphosphate in the presence of the modified isoprene synthase; etc.
