Abstract:
Provided are: a modified PTFE that can be molded at a low extrusion pressure even in paste extrusion molding at a high reduction ratio, and in which fluctuations in extrusion pressure are suppressed; and a method for producing same. A modified polytetrafluoroethylene containing a unit based on tetrafluoroethylene, a unit based on a monomer represented by formula (1), and a unit based on a monomer represented by formula (2), wherein, in the modified polytetrafluoroethylene, the content of the unit based on the monomer represented by formula (1) is 0.020 to 0.040 mass% relative to all units in the modified polytetrafluoroethylene, and the content of the unit based on the monomer represented by formula (2) is 0.003 to 0.080 mass% relative all units in the modified polytetrafluoroethylene. In formulae (1) and (2), n is 2 to 6, and L is a perfluoroalkylene group. Rf is a perfluoroalkyl group. m is an integer of 0 to 4. CH2=CH-CnF2n+1 (1) CF2=CFO(LO)mRf (2)
