Abstract:
Provided are: a modified vinyl aromatic copolymer having reactivity and solubility which make the copolymer usable in producing copolymer rubbers; and a copolymer rubber material which is obtained from the modified vinyl aromatic copolymer and exhibits processability, strength and homogeneity. This modified vinyl aromatic copolymer is characterized by containing structural units (a) derived from a divinyl aromatic compound, structural units (b) derived from a monovinyl aromatic compound, and structural units (c) derived from a conjugated diene compound, and characterized in that 95 mol% or more of structural units (a) are crosslinked structural units (a1) represented by formula (1), that the copolymer is modified by at least one type of functional group selected from the group consisting of an amino group, an alkoxysilyl group and a hydroxyl group, with 30 mol% or more of the functional groups bonding to the structural unit (c) derived from a conjugated diene compound, and that the number average molecular weight Mn of the copolymer is 500-30,000.
