Title:
MOLLE ATTACHMENT PANEL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2009/128801
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present technology relates to a platform of webbing developed to hang the MOLLE and ALICE attachment method, and place the panel anywhere the soldier may need, such as inside a structure, tent, habitation or workstation, or inside a vehicle or transport. This will allow a soldier or law enforcement officer to use items or equipment from the hanging panel and not deplete the items off of his person. This platform also integrates pouches and items already currently available in the military inventory which are also commercially available. The concept can be applied to virtually any size and shape to custom cut the surface are of the panel, as well as utilize a variety of attachment methods to hang to panel itself to surfaces, such as grommets, d-rings, webbing, quick release straps, eyelet's, bungee cords, and others.

CLAIMS

What is claimed is:

1. A pliable basic platform to which all others pieces are mounted:

a nylon type webbing arrayed on the basic platform to fit the standard military issue MOLLE type pouch attachment method;

various attachment mechanisms to hang to panel onto other surfaces, including but not limited to snap links, grommets, webbing, d-rings;

the basic platform may be made from any pliable fabric that meets the basic needs of the user. Fabrics may be selected that provide for such as fire resistance, acoustic dampening, soft ballistic armor and others as per the need of the user;

the attaching straps can be of any length or material to suit the needs of the user; and

the alignment of the 1" strips on the platform can be in any direction, but must be parallel and uniform, verses the 0-90-0-90 method in which case they must be parallel and perpendicular.

Description:

MOLLE ATTACHMENT PANEL

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present technology relates to a platform for using MOLLE and ALICE type pouches and mechanisms away from the body. The concept is to create storage capability on otherwise unusable vertical space. The dimensions and outer cut can be modified or custom cut for any vertical space for a vehicle of any type, structural, or personal needs. The device allows the integration of already existing ALICE or MOLLE type pouches to be configured to meet the personal needs of the user.

BACKGROUND

[0002] The modern battlefield is more dangerous and violent than ever before. "Smart" weapons, automatic weapons, and improved munitions have dramatically increased the probability of multiple injuries to combatants. Multiple injuries decrease the proportion of surviving wounded. Combat wounds are unique in that there is a high percentage of penetrating wounds, multisystem multi-etiologic injuries with a high degree of wound contamination. The unconventional nature of asymmetric warfare has moved a portion of the battlefield into an urban or indigenous setting. The unconventional opponent's weapon of choice (IED or Improvised Explosive Device) causes multiple and complex wounds to extremities caused by explosive discharge, shrapnel, and thermal assault.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0003] In order to protect the serviceman, we place him in vehicles or structures bearing more and more armor and equipment allowing for less space for personal tactical equipment. This device allows the user to capitalize vertical space for equipment placement, . This technology hangs along a wall by means of attachment points to provide a platform for the placement of MOLLE- or ALICE-friendly pouches existing in the inventory. The pouch placement is personalized according to user need.

[0004] The present technology will allow a soldier or law enforcement officer to use items or equipment from the hanging panel and not deplete the items off of his person. This platform also integrates pouches and items already currently available in the military inventory which are also

commercially available. The concept can be applied to virtually any size and shape to custom cut the surface are of the panel, as well as utilize a variety of attachment methods to hang to panel itself to surfaces, such as grommets, d-rings, webbing, quick release straps, eyelet's, bungee-cords, and others.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0005] Figure 1 is a top plan of the front side of the panel where the webbing is attached and the D-rings are facing front.

[0006] Figure 2 is a top plan of the back where the heavy webbing handles are facing up and all the MOLLE webbing is facing down.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0007] As required, detailed features and embodiments of the invention are disclosed herein. However, it is to be understood that the disclosed features and embodiments are merely exemplary of the technology that may be embodied in various and alternative forms. The figures are not necessarily to scale, and some features may be exaggerated or minimized to show details of particular components. Therefore, specific structural and functional details disclosed herein, and any particular combination of these details, are not to be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a basis for claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to variously employ the technology.

[0008] With further reference to the drawings, the MOLLE panel is shown therein. As detailed below, in some embodiments, the panel is a flexible fabric panel with anti-ballistic, anti-acoustic, and or fire resistant properties. The technology includes mechanisms to carry the panel as a unit such as side straps, and the entire unit has the ability to be rolled up and be secured for ease of transport and storage. In addition, the technology includes mechanisms to hang the panel to surfaces. These may include grommets, d-rings, webbing, snap links and others. These are placed in such a manner that they are accessible to the user, and arrayed for utility. The attachments items are integrated with methods already available and familiar to soldiers and law enforcement officers. In some embodiments, the webbing on the front side covers the entire front, or portions as per the need of the user. Webbing is arrayed as to be fitted to the standard MOLLE pouch which is 1 inch webbing laid in parallel strips spaced approximately 1 inch apart,

and the individual webbing strips are sewn or attached to the panel approximately every 1 % inch. In some embodiments, these strips are parallel, or alternatively, a second grouping of webbing may be sewn over the first in the same configuration, but perpendicular to the first set. The straps overlap, but allow access to either set so that pouches may be hung either vertically or horizontally.
