Abstract:
According to the present invention, a technology is achieved which monitors, using a photodetector disposed to face the side surface of an optical fiber, the intensities of a plurality of beams guided through the optical fiber and having different electric field distributions. This monitor device (1) comprises: m photodetectors (11, 12) arranged to face the side surface of an optical fiber (2); and an arithmetic unit (13) that calculates, from outputs D1, D2, ..., Dm of the m photodetectors (11, 12), the intensities L1, L2, ..., Ln of n beams guided through the optical fiber (2).
