Abstract:
This monitoring assistance system for assisting monitoring of a subject on a bed has: a detection unit which detects the position of a prescribed part of the subject from an image captured by an imaging device; a determination unit which determines, on the basis of the position at which the prescribed part of the subject has been detected, whether or not the subject has risen from the bed; and an output unit which sends notification in the case when the determination unit has determined that the subject has risen. By using the region of the bed in the image as a reference, an asleep region is set in a range in which the prescribed part is situated during sleep, and an awakening region is set in a range in which the prescribed part is situated during awakening, and the asleep region and the awakening region are disposed so to be separated from each other. Upon fulfilling the condition that the subject's prescribed part is detected in the awakening region after the subject's prescribed part has been detected in the asleep region, the determination unit determines that the subject has risen from the bed.
