Abstract:
The disclosed monitoring system is provided with a monitoring camera (1) and a monitoring terminal (2). The monitoring camera (1) is provided with: am imaging unit (11) that images an imaging subject; a video coding unit (12) that, by means of lossy compression, codes a video that has been output from the imaging unit (11); an video decoding unit (13) that decodes the video coded by the video coding unit (12); a feature quantity extraction unit (14) that receives a first video that has been output from the imaging unit (11) and a second video that has been output from the video decoding unit (13), and extracts the feature quantities of each video; a feature change detection unit (15) that detects the deviation between the feature quantities extracted from the first video and the feature quantities extracted from the second video; and a coding control unit (16) that alters the control parameters of the video coding unit (12) on the basis of the detected deviation in feature quantities.
