A monitoring technique, comprising: acquiring, by means of image matching, the current camera that is monitoring a target object at the current moment; then predicting a next-hop camera corresponding to the next monitoring area that the target object is about to enter next; and performing operations, such as acquisition, caching and playing, on multimedia content of the next-hop camera in advance according to a prediction result.
