Abstract:
This monolithic organic porous ion exchanger comprises a continuous skeleton and continuous pores, and is characterized in that: the continuous skeleton is formed by an organic polymer that is a hydrolyzate of a crosslinked polymer of (meth)acrylate ester and divinylbenzene and has either or both of the -COOH group and -COONa group as an ion exchange group; the thickness of the continuous skeleton is 0.1-100 μm; the average diameter of the continuous pores is 1.0-1,000 μm; the total pore volume is 0.5-50.0 mL/g; and the total ion exchange capacity of the -COOH group and -COONa group, on a dry weight basis, is at least 4.0 mg-equivalent/g. The present invention can provide a monolithic organic porous ion exchanger that exhibits an excellent absorbency for a target absorption liquid of, e.g., water, an aqueous solution, a hydrophilic organic solvent, and so forth.
