Abstract:
A motor drive device 100 comprises: an acquisition unit 41 that detects and acquires a multi-phase output current from an inverter 22 that includes a plurality of switching elements Ua, Ub, Va, Vb, Wa, Wb for driving a multi-phase AC motor 3; a determination unit 42 that determines an overcurrent in the plurality of switching elements on the basis of the multi-phase output current acquired by the acquisition unit; and a generation unit 43 that generates a switching instruction on the basis of the determination by the determination unit, and that outputs the switching instruction to the plurality of switching elements. When it is determined by the determination unit 42 that an overcurrent is flowing, the generation unit 43: outputs an off instruction to at least one switching element with respect to a phase in which the determination unit has determined that no overcurrent is flowing, and then outputs an off instruction to at least one switching element with respect to a phase in which the determination unit has determined that an overcurrent is flowing.
