Abstract:
The present invention stores an electric motor, constituting this vehicle motor drive device, in a simple housing to form a unit, thereby allowing performance assurance on a standalone basis of the electric motor. An in-wheel motor drive device (21) comprises: an electric motor (22) which drives wheels; a parallel-axis gear speed reducer (23) which reduces the speed of and outputs the rotation of the electric motor (22); a wheel bearing (24) which transmits the output of the parallel-axis gear speed reducer (23) to the wheels; and a casing (22) which houses the parallel-axis gear speed reducer (23). A motor housing part (53) is provided in the casing (22), and a motor unit (55) with the electric motor (22) stored in a simple housing (54) is disposed in the motor housing part (53) of the casing (22).
